Why We’re Excited for Minor League Baseball’s Opening Day
Today’s the start of the Minor League Baseball season! While the MLB might get more attention, we think there’s still plenty to be excited about when it comes to the MiLB.
For starters, the team names. How fun are the IronPigs, Mud Hens, Isotopes, Zephyrs, Fisher Cats, Sea Dogs, Flying Squirrels, Biscuits, RoughRiders, Pelicans, Manatees, Hot Rods, Dragons, Lugnuts, Sand Gnats, Renegades and Muckdogs? Don’t tell me you don’t want a hat or T-shirt from each of these.
Plus, Minor League stadiums also know how to have fun. At the West Michigan Whitecaps Opening Day you’ll find a team logo mittens giveaway, a Dixieland band, zoo animals, face painters, stilt walkers, jugglers and postgame fireworks. Other stadiums also bring in plenty of family-friendly fun, unique concession items and more to make each game an exciting night out.
Also, Minor League games are affordable for almost any budget and offer a great way to treat the whole family to a fun outing, or make for a great casual date night. Grab a beer and some Buffalo-style tater tots and soak up the atmosphere of the stadium.
