With over 300 million users worldwide, Instagram is one of the fastest-growing communication tools in history, according to a recent article on Marketing Profs. And Instagram’s main users are millennials, who — as Jim points out in his post The Most Important Thing in the World for Marketers to Understand — are in charge now (move over baby boomers).

“Instagram has helped to cement an American experience revolution,” Matt Britton writes. “It’s what you were doing rather than what you bought that would now earn you status.”

Britton put together a list of tips to keep in mind when using Instagram, which you can apply to marketing your event. Here are two below, and then read all of them here.

1. Keep it real: Instagram is all about authenticity and telling the world what you are … one photo at a time. If [your photo] doesn’t feel 100 percent real, don’t post it.

2. Go behind the scenes: No matter what business you’re in, there’s a story to be told. Keep your audience engaged by giving bits and pieces of the backstory (but not too much; you want them to always want more).
