Spotlight On … Coffee Con, Inc.
In his post, Food IS Entertainment, Jim wrote:
Years ago, I declared that food had become entertainment, but at that point it was still pretty crude. The occasional appearance by a celebrity chef, or a class on how to roll sushi, that kind of thing.
We’re way past that now, and if you’re in the business of either producing or selling live entertainment, you need to pay attention to this.
This past Saturday, about 1,000 coffee lovers poured into Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake for CoffeeCon 2014 Los Angeles. They spent up to seven hours tasting a wide range of flavors, blends and roasts, and hearing expert presenters, like Alan Adler, the inventor of the Aeropress, and Jim Schulman, who gave a seminar titled, “Water.” That’s right, it’s probably the most important ingredient to brew the perfect cup. So important that the guest speakers brought their own bottled water.
“Coffee is about 98 percent water,” John Martin, director of coffee for Alhambra-based LA Mill, told LA Weekly, which gives a nice wrap-up of the event here, and also shares Schulman’s simple water fix.
CoffeeCon is heading to NYC in February 2015 — so get ready to find out what all the buzz is about!
