When Malcolm Gladwell announced his new podcast, before the first episode even aired, it had jumped to No. 2 in the iTunes charts, reports The Story of Telling. Why? Because “we trust him to produce nothing but great work that’s worth our time.” The post highlights why trust is more important than hype when it comes to building your business.

“Yes, hype is more immediate than trust,” the post explains, “but in the long run trust is a more sustainable strategy.”

Sure, you may need some initial hype to bring people into your show at first, but it’s the quality of your customer’s experience that builds trust — and keeps ’em coming back for more.
