Holidays and special occasions are great reasons to go out — right? We (almost) wish every day was a holiday!

Spotify is putting this idea into action. Every year, Black History Month is celebrated in February. But, as Fast Company points out, there is a “common refrain heard every February: that black history shouldn’t be confined to just one month, but celebrated and acknowledged year-round.”

Spotify and Saturday Morning Co. have created Black History Is Happening Now, reports Fast Company. This initiative not only includes a new content hub of stories told through curated playlists, videos and podcasts, the company is also accepting applications for a new fellowship and offering a bootcamp in New York City for aspiring female podcasters of color.

Fast Company quotes Twitter’s global group creative director Jayanta Jenkins, co-founder of Saturday Morning Co.: “I think what’s so amazing about Spotify, and why this is so important, is because it really shows a very authentic and dedicated approach to this idea of, not only celebrating Black History beyond February, but going into communities and using music and their resources to inspire young people.”

It makes you wonder if there are more opportunities like this — to make a one-time acknowledgement into a year-round celebration.
