Jim Joseph at TEDxBroadway 2018 — Beyond the Bio

Before we meet up at New World Stages on Tuesday, February 27 for TEDxBroadway (get your tickets here!), we wanted to take you beyond the bio to meet this year’s speakers. Meet Jim Joseph:

  • He’s the Theatre Manager at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, the Broadway home of Manhattan Theatre Club.

We asked Jim …

Q: What’s your favorite TED talk?
A: “Thomas Schumacher’s ‘Embracing All Audiences’ from the first TEDxBroadway”

Q: Who has inspired you the most?
A: “My father — he led a life of hard work and family and taught me about responsibility, family and being a mentor.”

Q: What do you appreciate most about the Broadway community?
A: “Community and a sense of belonging. I met Tom Hanks when he was rehearsing for his Broadway debut. I said to him, ‘Welcome to the Broadway community,’ and his eyes lit up. It means that much to those of us lucky enough to be in it.”

Q:  What upcoming Broadway show are you most excited about?
A: “Toss up between The Iceman Cometh and the revival of Angels in America. Millennium Approaches was one of the most memorable theatrical experiences of my life.”

Q:  Name five people you’d like to invite to a dinner party.
A: “Joe Papp, Prince, Barack Obama, Bill Parcells and Gregory Hines.”

Q:  Who’ll be most excited about your TEDx Broadway talk?
A: “My wife!”
