Game of Thrones Gets Even Bigger With a Live Concert Tour
First, Game of Thrones popped up as an interactive art installation in New York City. It seems that the hit fantasy series is getting in on more live event action. A Game of Thrones immersive musical concert tour has been announced that’s hitting the road across North America early next year.
The tour features an orchestra and choir, visual footage from the HBO show as well as some created just for the live event and a “headlining performance from the hit show’s Grammy-nominated composer Ramin Djawadi,” reports Consequence of Sound.
“For seven years, Ramin has been blowing our mind with his music’s force, subtlety, and endless inventiveness,” said Game of Thrones creators/executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss in a press release. “The GoT Concert Experience will be unique in the history of concert tours, an eye-popping, ear-splitting, phantasmagoric blend of the show’s visuals and Ramin’s powerful compositions.”
A concert tour is a great way to give existing fans more of what they want and also score new fans. Looks like the popularity of Game of Thrones is just too big for the TV screen — it’s launching out to venues across North America. Next stop: the world … and maybe even other kingdoms?
