Find Something Great to Do Anytime, Anywhere
Recently, Bloomberg asked me to talk about the impact of mobile adoption on live events, and some of you may have seen that segment.
The reason they were interested in having me there is that over the last couple of years, Goldstar has put a tremendous effort into understanding and being part of the platform shift currently happening among consumers toward mobile devices. As a veteran of the original World Wide Web explosion of the late ’90s, this mobile transition is very similar, and while I don’t think that desktop/laptop computer usage is going away, here’s what I can tell you:
Computers (desktops and laptops) will be a specialty device, if they aren’t already. They’ll be second in the consumer’s mind to mobile devices. For many, that’s already true, but it will be true across all consumers soon.
As Steve Jobs said, PCs are going to be like pickup trucks, an important and large minority.
Goldstar has been working very hard to facilitate this, and we’re on the cusp of having a majority of our business come from mobile sources. Today, we announced the launch of our app to our members, and I think that’s going to push us over the line and toward a future led by mobile.
Take a look at the app if you get a chance.
Also, I’m happy to talk to people in our business about mobile. It’s important for the industry not to fall behind here … consumer preference moves fast, and it can move away from an entire industry if that industry isn’t where the consumers are. So call me! I’m here to help.
