We asked David …
Q: What are you reading right now?
A: “[Walter] Isaacson’s book on da Vinci. I’m re-reading [Erich] Fromm’s Escape From Freedom, an essential manual for the times we’re in, as well as Desolation Island by Patrick O’Brian (from the Aubrey/Maturin series of novels, the greatest historical fiction ever written. I’ve been through the series four times.).”
Q: What’s the last song you listened to?
A: “‘Kites Are Fun’ by The Free Design. Listen to it.”
Q: What’s on your bucket list?
A: “Galvanized Tin, Plastic Beach with shovel, Heavy Duty PVC for holding toxic liquids.”
Q: What’s a talent you wish you had?
A: “I wish I could do visual art — painting, drawing, etc. I wish I could fold contour sheets. I wish I could walk ego-less through this world and experience it intimately.”
Q: What’s your favorite TED talk?
A: “Paul Stamets: ‘6 ways mushrooms can save the world.’ I love the fact that the largest known living organism is a four-mile wide fungus in Oregon. It makes you think about the definition of ‘organism’ and helps direct you to the conclusion that perhaps all life is connected as one giant organism.”
