Aspen Live Preview With Conference Host Jim Lewi
Aspen Live 2014 kicks off today. Conference host Jim Lewi offers a preview of what to expect at this conference for professionals in the live entertainment industry, now in its 19th year. And if you’re there, when you see Wendi Lebow, VP of Venue Relations, be sure to grab a Goldstar sticker for our Half-Price Late-Night Happy Hour. We’ll be sharing thoughts on the day’s activities and having a much-deserved nightcap on Friday from 10:00pm to 1:00am in the Lobby Bar at the Limelight Hotel. Hope to see you there — and if not, you can follow the conference activities on Twitter at #AspenLive.
Selling Out: What are some of the main reasons to attend Aspen Live — and who should attend?
Jim Lewi: It’s a community of people that do business together year-round. Managers, agents, promoters, venues, ticketing, tech — basically if you’re in music or live entertainment, you should attend.
SO: Who are some of your speakers this year, and what are some of the hot topics they’re addressing?
JL: Vivien Lewit from YouTube will be talking about how to monetize the platform, Ashley Bradbury from Facebook will go through what tools you should be using, Jim from Goldstar will be talking about ticket pricing, and Bob Lefsetz is interviewing Peter Mensch from Q Prime Management (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, The Black Keys, Eric Church, Cage the Elephant, etc.).
SO: What makes Aspen Live different from other conferences?
JL: We are small, no panels, just guest speakers, group discussions (sometimes arguments) and workshops. No competing content (meetings don’t overlap), only two meetings per day and lots of hang time.
SO: What are some of the highlights of the conference this year that participants can expect?
JL: Great people, programs and, of course, Aspen!
Also, Jim McCarthy will be speaking at Aspen Live tomorrow at 5:30pm in the Limelight Lodge Conference Room about “Pricing Your Tickets.”
