3 Ways to Attract a Bigger Audience

Want more people to discover your events? Three little letters can make it happen: SEO.

A quick primer on SEO if you’re not familiar: It stands for Search Engine Optimization, and refers to all the ways you can make your website more appealing to search engines, and improve where your site shows up in search results. The benefits of SEO are huge — the easier it is for people to find your events, the better!

If you want to improve your event’s SEO (trust us, you do), here are a few tips:

Tip No. 1: Think Local

There are exceptions, but in general, the people you want to reach online are the ones in your venue’s community. So make sure your location is prominent on your website. If you’re in Chicago for example, having your location on your site makes it more likely that you’ll show up in searches for “events in Chicago.”

Tip No. 2: Get Those Inbound Links

Inbound links are links to your site from other websites. When Google sees more links back to your site, it gives you more authority and helps you show up higher in search results. One of the easiest ways to get these links is to list your event on local directories and discovery sites (ahem, like Goldstar, Eventbrite and our other distribution partners!).

Tip No. 3: Be Mobile Friendly

More than half of Google searches are happening on phones, so it’s crucial that your site is optimized for mobile. In addition to optimizing your own site, using a ticketing system that’s mobile optimized is key.
